Had some fun tonight messing about with the Cwejman S1. It seems to excel at doing nice FM stuff, with a very precise bell-like quality (despite not having thru-zero or Lin FM) - I am often using Exp. FM, coupled with Osc Sync to keep it in tune, although this obviously affects the tone.
The ability to shape the levels of each individual osc really helps with creating FM-based patches, allowing you to add a nice plucked edge to the layers of your patches.
The filters are everything you'd expect from a Cwejman - precise and crystal clear, and FM beautifully. The envelopes are also first class, having the snappiest response of any I've tried yet...by a LONG way. Quality!
This demo is two single jams that I had no intention of layering up over each other, but serendipity has come into play and they fit together perfectly. There is absolutely NO processing on the sounds whatsoever, as I wanted to demonstrate how the S1 sounds "naked". The only thing I've done is a little bit of volume automation to bring the levels in line.
There are other modules from my Euro System involved, but no sound-processing outside of the S1 at all. The Moskwa is doing the sequencing (GREAT module!), set to random, and with pauses randomly interspersed, delivered by the a149-2. It is clocked by the SSL V-Gates in BINARY mode, to give the rhythm more interest. The PEG is doing some rhythmic jiggery-pokery, modulated by the Vulcan Modulator and Maths (various Division and Curve modulations). Synovatron CV Tools is used to invert + offset PEG envelopes at points.
