a quick demo to show 2 delay pedals - one that cost me £10 (well, not even that in the end, as i swapped a speaker switcher for it), and one that cost £105
Rocktek ADR-02 BBD delay and EHX Memory Boy Deluxe respectively
The EHX is on the Left, the Rocktek on the right
gradually start bringing in more feedback and introduced internal modulation of the delay time on the Memory Boy (using in-built LFO)....and messed with the Rocktek's settings manually.
It's hilarious tweaking the Rocktek, as the controls are so loose that you can't really do anything smoothly....but you can use this to your advantage, as any tweaks set off little bumps and jolts in the delay time, which sound quite cool! You can even drum on the top of the delay time knob to produce weird vibrato-type effects.....nice! (see 1:45 and 1.57 for examples of this wiggliness).
I really like the Rocktek....it's got a nice, smooth and dark tone, and i can see it being a keeper
The sound source is the Cyclebox (LEAD and LAG outputs) being massaged by the Vulcan Modulator. LEAD (on left) is going through the RS110 in its lovely Notch mode (modulated by Vulcan) and the LAG (on right) is going through the Blue Lantern Polivoks clone (also modulated by the Vulcan).
