Whilst experimenting with the tidy Analogue Solutions SH-NZ I found something interesting and unique: if you put the noise output right up to full and patch it into the SH-NZ sample+hold "in", you get a "pseudo-Wogglebug" random out.
Basically, it does "normal" sample+hold on most steps, but on quite a few it decides to almost do track and hold (or something) - this results in it doing a little fill/ glissando that sounds really interesting.
You can also turn up the slew and make it even more Wogglebug-esque. It also really reminds me of the a118 random voltage output (the bottom half), which i really loved, but which had no clock input. Well, this does!
The crazy thing is....this is described in the manual like this:
"Turn the Noise level up to about 30-50% (A higher setting causes strange - though not neccessarily - output)."
So it's actually an "unintentional" feature. but it sounds great! - all the little runs sound like they are in time - either really fast triplets, or swung 16ths or something. Very odd, but nice.
A highly recommended module, as it covers all your Sample+Hold requirements, along with a Noise output and Slew - all in 6hp!
