A quick little demo to show what happens if you stick a couple of LFOs into the a166 Logic module (instead of gates, which is what it's usually used for..)
Patch:
1 - MFB Dual LFO top LFO > AFG's Exp FM1 CV input
2 - MFB Dual LFO bottom LFO > AFG's Exp FM2 CV input
3 - reset gates sent from Silent Way to both Dual LFO reset inputs, resetting once per bar
4 - LFO's outputs multed to two inputs of the a166 Logic Module
5 - outputs of a166 taken into 3 inputs of a151 sequential switch
6 - Choices gate output used to switch between the a166's different outputs, by triggering a151 via the Trigger Input
7 - AFG's output sent into Pittsburgh Filter
8 - Filter output into Oakley VCA, and then to computer for recording
9 - the a151's output (containing one of the three a166 outs, depending on how it's been switched by Choices) goes to trigger a Maths envelope
10 - Maths env output to both the VCA's CV input and the Pittsburgh's cutoff CV input, so that you get volume and filter envelopes, triggered by the a166 (whose triggers are derived from the two MFB LFOs)
During the jam I mess about with the following:
The speed of the two LFOs, along with the amount of cross-modulation
The initial gain of the VCA, so that sometimes you're only hearing the final output when it's triggered by the Maths envelope. Most of the time i've left a little bit of constant output from the VCA, with the Maths envelope merely adding volume accents.
The cutoff of the filter, and the cutoff CV amount.
The length of the RISE and FAll on the Maths envelope
I switch between the different a166 outputs by pressing the gate button on Choices.
After i recorded the jam i edited out some of the more ridiculously arrhythmic passages, but left it stuff that was kind of rhythmic, but a bit "wonky".
i think this technique would be good for doing Fidget House/ Wonky Beats type of stuff - great for getting odd loops!
